Arterial Stiffness Index and Exercise Tolerance in Patients Undergoing Cardiac Rehabilitation

چکیده
Arterial stiffness contributes to the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, relationship between arterial and exercise tolerance in CVD patients with preserved ejection fraction (pEF) those reduced EF (rEF) is unclear. We enrolled 358 who participated cardiac rehabilitation underwent cardiopulmonary testing at Juntendo University Hospital. After excluding 195 had undergone open heart surgery 20 mid-range EF, were divided into pEF (n = 99) rEF 44) groups. was assessed using velocity pulse index (AVI) pressure volume (API) rest. The group significantly older a higher prevalence coronary artery than group. lower AVI levels API In group, peak oxygen uptake (peak VO2) anaerobic threshold VO2 negatively correlated (All, P < 0.05), but not Multivariate linear regression analyses demonstrated that independently associated (β −0.34, 0.05) conclusion, may be useful factor for assessing tolerance, particularly pEF.

Inpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs’ exercise therapy for patients undergoing cardiac surgery: National Korean Questionnaire Survey
Inpatient cardiac rehabilitation (ICR) has been commonly conducted after cardiac surgery in many countries, and has been reported a lots of results. However, until now, there is inadequacy of data on the status of ICR in Korea. This study described the current status of exercise therapy in ICR that is performed after cardiac surgery in Korean hospitals. Questionnaires modified by previous studi...
متن کاملArterial stiffness index: A new evaluation for arterial stiffness in elderly patients with essential hypertension
Background: Arterial stiffness is one of the predictors of cardiovascular event. Arterial stiffness is commonly measured by pulse wave velocity between the carotid and femoral arteries. Recently the arterial stiffness index which is measured by computerized oscillometry at the upper arm was developed. As this procedure is a convenient means of measuring pulse wave velocity, we considered it sui...

BACKGROUND We studied the repeatability of the ambulatory arterial stiffness index (AASI), which can be computed from 24-h blood pressure (BP) recordings as unity minus the regression slope of diastolic on systolic BP. METHODS One hundred and fifty-two hypertensive outpatients recruited in Nijmegen (mean age = 46.2 years; 76.3% with systolic and diastolic hypertension) and 145 patients enroll...
متن کاملExercise in cardiac rehabilitation.
Introduction The notion that exercise is dangerous for patients with heart disease dogged the use of such treatment for the first half of the twentieth century. It was a further 30 years before exercise became accepted in rehabilitation. The controversy is made more diYcult by the fact that exercise may be dangerous for some patients in some circumstances. Exercise is now widely believed to ben...
